Erin here, with new updates to my personal fitness journey. Recently my gym closed down its doors for good. Now I'm left thinking - okay, now what?
To add insult to injury, the 5k I was planning to run was postponed until next year. Between both the gym closing and the run postponed, I couldn't help but feel like this marked a step back for me. I was starting to make progress on my squat and deadlift weight and was mentally prepared for the 5k.
But we are all on God's time, and this made me realize that maybe this will allow me to make more time to test-drive the home workout program I have been working on for the Nation. The issue with finding another gym close by can be addressed later. What matters is that I find ways to keep moving.
These recent events made me realize that I may never be the most athletic, strongest, or fastest person in the world. I, for lack of a better word, might never be "one of the best" in anything I do. But that is okay. Because I am healthy.
So if you ever find yourself in a position like me, just find new ways to keep moving your body. If you have ever heard the phrase "objects in motion stay in motion," related to exercise, it is absolutely true. Until I figure out where my next gym home is, my goal is to keep moving by going on walks, using what's available at my small apartment gym, doing home workouts, and snowboarding. With winter almost here, my new focus will be on going to the mountains on weekends whenever I am able.
Another update - I start a PhD program in Health Sciences soon. This education will help me improve both as an epidemiologist and a personal trainer. As I progress in my program, I will be sure to share research articles that are important to addressing health through fitness. Blessings to you!
