Rest and Redemption

In a world that glorifies hustle, it can feel like rest is counterproductive. Many of us wrestle with this in our daily lives. But in both fitness and faith, rest is essential for growth. God Himself modeled rest for us in Genesis 2:2-3. After creating the world, He rested. If the Creator of the universe takes time to rest, so should we.
Overworking our bodies without proper rest leads to burnout. The same is true in our spiritual lives. We need moments to pause, to reflect, and to be still before God. Matthew 11:28 says, “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” There is redemption in rest—a reminder that our worth is not tied to constant activity. And even if we cannot rest for long periods, or enjoy a slow morning or evening routine, we can find moments of rest. Through intentional recognition and self-awareness, we can pause and appreciate quiet moments with our God.
This week, let’s embrace both rest and redemption, trusting that in those quiet moments, God is renewing our strength for the journey ahead.
Blessings to you on your health and fitness journey,
Erin
